What is a Semiconductor and difference between n-type and p-type?
Semiconductor & Types (n-type vs p-type):
- Semiconductor: Material (Silicon, Germanium) with electrical conductivity between conductors and insulators.
- n-type Semiconductor: Doped with pentavalent impurities (Phosphorus, Arsenic); majority charge carriers are free electrons.
- p-type Semiconductor: Doped with trivalent impurities (Boron, Aluminium); majority charge carriers are holes.
